JAMMU, Mar 2: The Janipur Traders Association (JTA) today demands a thorough verification and registration drive for unregistered rehri (street) vendors operating in the City North area.
In this regard a delegation led by Yashpal Sharma, president JTA called on Vivek Shekhar Sharma, Superintendent of Police, City North, Jammu.
The association highlights that many vendors are running their businesses without proper permits or identification documents, raising law and order concerns and causing inconvenience to residents, shopkeepers and pedestrians.
The letter points out that a large number of these vendors are outsiders whose background checks have not been conducted, leading to issues such as traffic congestion, obstruction of public pathways and some even carrying sharp edge weapons, posing a danger to society.
The association requests the police to ensure all street vendors are properly registered and their credentials verified according to rules, with strict action against those operating illegally.
The appeal seeks prompt action to address the situation and maintain public safety.
