JSCL’s Hatrick of Awards

The recognition of Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) with three national awards at the 5th PSU Transformation Awards 2025 is a significant milestone in Jammu’s long and evolving journey towards becoming a modern, inclusive and sustainable city. Winning three honours among hundreds of Smart City representations from across the country underlines the seriousness, scale and sincerity of the efforts being made in Jammu. Urban transformation is inherently a slow and complex process. Cities are living organisms shaped by history, geography, economy and people. Transforming them cannot be reduced to erecting concrete structures or cosmetic beautification. True smart city development requires a holistic approach-one that integrates economic growth, environmental sustainability, cultural preservation, climate resilience and improved quality of life. JSCL’s work, particularly the award-winning Tawi Riverfront Project, reflects this understanding. River rejuvenation, ecological restoration, flood mitigation and the creation of vibrant public spaces together demonstrate how infrastructure can be both people-centric and environmentally responsible.
Leadership has played a crucial role in this journey. The Outstanding Leadership in Transformation Award conferred on the CEO of JSCL acknowledges the importance of visionary and committed administrative leadership. Urban mobility reforms, green transport initiatives and citizen-focused planning do not materialise without decisive leadership and the ability to align diverse stakeholders. Equally important is the recognition of other professionals of JSCL. These honours highlight that urban transformation is driven not only by policies but also by individuals and teams willing to go the extra mile.
From the introduction of e-buses, Tawi Aarti, public Wi-Fi, heritage-style modern bazaars, and aesthetic city gateways, the focus has been on balancing modern infrastructure with cultural identity. Projects such as the upcoming cafeteria and heritage parking facility at Mubarak Mandi promise solutions that combine economic activity, heritage conservation and traffic decongestion in the old city. Rejuvenation of water bodies and large-scale plantation drives further signal a long-term ecological vision. With hundreds of projects already completed and many more in the pipeline, JSCL’s efforts are reshaping Jammu’s urban experience. The three national awards should rightly be seen as a booster dose-reinforcing confidence, motivating the workforce, and encouraging the pursuit of even higher standards. For Jammu, this recognition is not the culmination of the journey but an affirmation that it is moving in the right direction towards a smarter, greener and more liveable future.
