JAMMU, Feb 13: In the wake of the brightened prospects of installation of a BJP-PDP Government in the State, Jammu Pradesh United Front (JPUF) has vociferously reiterated its demands to be incorporated in the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) on which the BJP had sought a huge mandate from the people of this region.
Balwant Mankotia, Ex-MLA and Convenor JUPF, while talking to the media, revealed that the Front would keep a strict vigil on the political situation of J&K and make sure that the people of Jammu Pradesh are not betrayed again by any political party. He reminded that the BJP had assured the electorate before the Assembly elections to pitch the CM from Jammu Pradesh if they were voted to power and since the people of Jammu had voted overwhelmingly in favour of the party keeping their assurances in mind, the onus lies on the BJP to respect the clear cut mandate of the people by at least pressing upon the CM from Jammu Province while chalking out the CMP with the PDP.
Mankotia also reminded that the BJP had given the assurances in its manifesto to accord Permanent Resident to West PaK Refugees, rehabilitation POJK refugees and border migrants, delimitation of Assembly constituencies, etc.
Mankotia announced that JPUF will hold one day ‘dharna’ on Sunday at all the district headquarters of Jammu Pradesh to impress upon the alliance to incorporate the Jammu related issues in the CMP. He asserted that if these issues would not see any place in the CMP then Front shall intensify the stir on every nook and corner of Jammu Pradesh. He appealed other likeminded political parties, social organizations, youth and intellectual forums to join the movement against the socio-political discrimination meted out to the people of Jammu Pradesh and participate in the “ dharnas” for the cause of the people.
Other leaders who spoke on the occasion included, Rajiv Mahajan (Shri Ram Sena), Rajesh Kesari (Shiv Sena Hindustan), Pritam Gupta, Gagan Pratap Singh and Anil Rakwal.
