JAMMU, Feb 17: In support of their demands, a massive protest demonstration organized by the Jammu Province Bank Employees Federation (JPBEF) was held here today.
The protest was held under the banner of United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) in collaboration with All India Bank Officers Association (AIBOA).
While addressing the gathering Arun Kumar Gupta, General Secretary, JPBEF highlighted various demands of Bank Unions.
The major demands are adequate recruitment in all cadres, regularisation of temporary employees and implementation of 5 days work week in Banking Industry.
To stop and immediate withdrawal of Financial Services Directives on Performance Review and PLI, which is threatening job security and create division, discrimination amongst employees and officers and undermine Public Sector Banks autonomy, to ensure safety of Bank Officers/Staff against the assault/abuses by unruly Banking Public.
Ashwani Pradhan, General Secretary, AlBOA-JKLC said that pension updation for retirees must be restored as per the line of RBI employees. Government of India should maintain a minimum of 51 percent of equity in IDBI Bank and the government should also amend Gratuity Act to increase the ceiling of Gratuity to 25 lakhs on the lines of scheme for Government Employees along with exemption from Income Tax.
Among others who addressed the gathering included Riyaz Ahmad Bhat, Tara Singh, Yogesh Kumar, Anil Sharma, Harminder Singh, Avtar Singh, Jatinder Arora, Sachin Hans, Mufti Shujaat, Arshad Suhaf, Parshotam Kumar, Rahul Gupta, Amit Verma, Girish Khajuria, Avinash Choudhary and Nikhil Grover .
