JAMMU, Dec 22: A colourful Christmas rally was taken out by the J&K Joint Churches Fellowship Christian community of Jammu city in connection with merry Christmas falling on December 25 today.
The rally started from Shaheedi Chowk towards Residency road, Raghunath Bazar, City Chowk, Shalamar road, Parade, Library Chowk, Kachi Chawni, Panjtirthi, CPO Chowk, Jammu Bazar, Link road, Purani Mandi, City Chowk, Kanak Mandi and later culminated on its return at Shahidi Chowk.
Santa Claus and tableaus with angels and King Herod who was the Roman King at that time and Church choirs were special attractions of the rally. The people enroute gave standing ovation to rally and the participants. The choirs of different churches of the city were singing worship songs relating to the birth of Jesus Christ.
The market associations at many places gave a warm welcome to the Christmas procession and offered refreshment to the participants of the rally.
The main organisers of the rally were Shoukat Peter, president Joint Churches Fellowship Jammu, Hemant Digal, Priest in charge of St Paul’s Church, Musraf Bhatti, vice president, Rohit Mattoo, general secretary, Johnson Gill, Pastor Novamanikana, Stephen David, Pastor Stonious Bhatti, Polous Gill, Pastor Anthony Teji, Pastor John Roques Bhatti, Camres David Basbbloo, Feastus Sotra, Griffen Gill, Sudhgar Mattoo, Asif Gill, Nasir Mashi and others.
At the end the organiser expressed gratitude towards the district administration for extending all help and cooperation. They also expressed gratitude to police and Traffic Police, general public and JMC staff, shopkeepers of local markets for their cooperation.
The organisers wished merry Christmas and blessings of New Year 2026 to the people.
