JAMMU, June 13: A Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) team led by Mayor, Chander Mohan Gupta took stock of the ongoing work on walkway project being executed here at Peer Kho with an estimate cost of Rs. 4.24 crore.
Baba Karan Nath, Mahant of Peer Kho temple and some prominent citizens of the area present on the occasion raised the issue of non-completion of the walkway. Concerned engineering division told the Mayor that the project is 90 per cent complete but due to the nationwide lockdown the work was stopped which has been restarted now.
The Mayor informed that the walkway will be of 1.06 km in length from Peer Kho temple to Panjtirthi having two beautiful view points en-route, two modern toilet complexes along its side, LED lights and a lot of seasonal and green plants to make the surroundings beautiful so that the general public can walk freely there.
Deputy Mayor, Purnima Sharma directed the concerned engineering wing to complete the project within a month by adopting necessary guidelines of district administration pertaining to COVID-19 pandemic.
Narotam Sharma, Councilor; Arun Gupta, Executive Engineer; Anil Gupta, Assistant Executive Engineer and others were also present on the occasion.
