JMC seizes 25 unauthorized Rehries

JAMMU, June 19: In a move to ensure smooth traffic flow and pedestrian convenience, the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) here today intensified its anti-encroachment efforts and the Enforcement and Revenue Wings of JMC carried out the drive across the city.
The drive was conducted in Gangyal, Kunjwani, Digiana, Indira Chowk via BC Road, Jewel Chowk, Vinayak Bazar and Maheshpura Chowk during which 25 unauthorized Rehries along with material was seized for illegal occupation of public pathways and roads.
The enforcement teams also conducted an awareness and sensitization campaign during the drive, urging the people in general and Rehri Walas and shopkeepers and other stakeholders in particular to not to install Rehries or display goods in a manner that obstructs pedestrian movement or contributes to traffic congestion.
The shopkeepers were specifically cautioned against placing goods outside their shops as such actions not only cause inconvenience to the public but also violates municipal regulations.
They were warned that any such encroachments would lead to seizure of the goods besides action as warranted under the provisions of the J&K Municipal Corporation Act 2000.
