JAMMU, May 22: In its drive against use of polythene carry bags and smoking in public places, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today seized 22 kg polythene carry bags and booked 6 persons under COTP Act.
The seizure was made by a team of Health & Sanitation Wing of JMC under the supervision of Health Officer, Dr Mohd Saleem Khan.
The team inspected various food establishments at Amphalla, Bikram Chowk, Ware House, Prem Nagar, Gujjar Nagar, Narwal, Channi Himmat, Satwari, Digiana, and various areas of Jammu city.
22 kg of polythene carry bags were seized and a fine of Rs 21,500 was imposed on defaulters by the team. The team also booked six persons under COTP Act and realized a penalty of Rs 600 from the defaulters.
Meanwhile, the team lifted samples of fruit drink (Minute Maid Brand) and biscuits of Parle brand from Amphalla and biscuits of Raja brand and namkeens from Gangyal, and sent the same to Food Analyst Jammu for ascertaining its standard of purity.
