JAMMU, Feb 10: Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Dr Devansh Yadav today conducted an inspection of several city areas to review the sanitation and cleanliness situation.
A statement said the visit covered Ward numbers 12, 13, 14 and 19, including Gumat Bazaar, Bhagat Singh Chowk, Dogra Chowk, MA Stadium, Science College, Canal Head, Mohinder Nagar, Maheshpura Chowk and nearby localities.
During the tour, the Commissioner assessed the cleanliness of roads, streets, drains and public places. He also reviewed ongoing development works and checked the condition and functioning of civic amenities being provided to residents.
Dr Yadav directed officials to ensure regular door-to-door garbage collection, proper waste segregation and timely cleaning and de-silting of drains to avoid waterlogging and health risks.
He stressed that maintaining hygiene is essential for public health and must be taken seriously at all levels.
As part of the drive, illegal encroachments and unauthorized stalls blocking footpaths and roads were removed.
The Commissioner instructed enforcement teams to keep a close watch and take strict action against repeat offenders to prevent re-encroachment.
Interacting with officers and field staff, Dr Yadav emphasized better coordination between departments and stronger monitoring at the ward level. He said cleanliness should be a continuous effort and not limited to special drives.
The Commissioner also appealed to citizens to cooperate with JMC by disposing of waste responsibly and avoiding encroachments. He reiterated the corporation’s commitment to making Jammu a clean, orderly and citizen-friendly city.
