JAMMU, Jan 3: JMC Commissioner, Dr. Devansh Yadav here today visited the Home for Aged & Infirm (Vridh Ashram).
During visit, the Commissioner undertook a comprehensive round of both blocks of the Home, interacted with the inmates and the management and enquired about the issues faced by them.
Dr. Dinesh Gupta, secretary of the Home, apprised the Commissioner that although the Home has an intake capacity of 90 residents, it is presently accommodating only 45 elders due to non-availability of lifts in both G+2 blocks.
He also highlighted the problem of public nuisance caused by shopkeepers and passers-by due to the absence of public urination facilities, resulting in unhygienic conditions near the windows of the Home.
Further, it was brought to the notice of the Commissioner that the roadside drainage system in front of the Home and its gates is badly damaged and requires urgent repairs.
The Management requested proper repair of drains, installation of gratings on all sides for safety and placement of suitable flower pots by JMC, which would also enhance the aesthetic appeal of the area.
The Commissioner assured that the Government is fully committed to the safety, security and welfare of senior citizens and assured that he would ensure that the genuine issues raised are resolved to the best satisfaction of the inmates.
Later, the Home Management, led by Pankaj Gupta, Dr. Dinesh Gupta, Sat Pal Sharma and Rajinder Singh—president, secretary and Managing Committee Members respectively presented a beautiful flower pot to the Commissioner.
