JAMMU, Nov 6: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Commissioner, Dr. Devansh Yadav here today conducted an extensive tour of various localities of Jammu city and inspected the Government quarters earmarked for Darbar Move employees of Civil Secretariat to ensure better sanitation and other basic amenities.
During the tour, Dr. Yadav took stock of the overall sanitation system and interacted with residents to understand their concerns regarding cleanliness, waste disposal and mosquito control.
He directed the concerned officers to ensure that both dry and wet waste from every household and surrounding area be properly segregated at the source. Dr. Yadav emphasized that all the collected waste must be loaded systematically into autos for transportation and scientific disposal to maintain hygiene and prevent littering.
Dr. Yadav instructed the concerned sanitation and health teams to intensify spraying and fogging operations in and around the Government quarters to prevent mosquito breeding and control the spread of vector-borne diseases such as dengue and chikungunya. He also stressed on the need to identify stagnant water sources, clean drains and maintain proper waste disposal channels to eliminate potential breeding grounds.
The Commissioner issued on spot directions to the field staff to maintain strict vigilance and ensure daily lifting of garbage from residential quarters and open spaces. He further directed that door-to-door waste collection be monitored regularly and that public awareness on waste segregation be increased among residents and workers alike.
Health Officer, JMC, Dr. Vinod Sharma and other senior officers of the Health section of JMC also accompanied the Commissioner during the tour.
