JAMMU, Feb 18: In a concerted effort to enhance sanitation and public awareness, Commissioner of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Dr Devansh Yadav, convened a significant meeting with Swachhata Ambassadors, Influencers, Champions and Volunteers today in the JMC Conference Hall. The interaction aimed at garnering support for various cleanliness initiatives undertaken by JMC and leveraging social media for wider outreach.
During the meeting, participants shared their feedback on the sanitation efforts of JMC, particularly in light of the upcoming Swachh Survekshan 2024, an annual cleanliness survey conducted by the Union Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs. Dr Yadav emphasized the collective responsibility of citizens in maintaining the cleanliness of their surroundings and encouraged active participation in the initiatives.
A key highlight of the discussion was the recently launched “Garbage Hotspot Challenge”, an initiative designed to promptly address sanitation grievances. Under this initiative, citizens are encouraged to identify and report garbage-prone areas through the dedicated portal http://myjammu.in. Reported grievances will be resolved within 24 hours, ensuring a cleaner environment for residents.
Swachhata Ambassadors, Influencers, Champions and Volunteers were urged to extend their support by amplifying JMC’s initiatives on their social media platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and Facebook. They were also encouraged to share the Swachh Survekshan 2024 feedback link (https://sbmurban.org/feedback) among their followers, facilitating maximum public participation in the survey.
In recognition of exemplary efforts in promoting cleanliness and waste segregation, certificates of appreciation were distributed among the winners of the UT level painting competition held recently.
The meeting was attended by Joint Commissioner (H&S) Abdul Star, Health Officer Dr Vinod Sharma, and other officials of the Corporation.
