Srinagar, July 12: Director of Health Services Kashmir, Dr Jehangir Bakshi, today said that JLNM Hospital Rainawari is continuously expanding and is soon set to become a super speciality hospital.
Speaking to reporters after an event at JLNM Hospital, the Director also spoke about measures soon to be taken by the Government to address the shortage of paramedical staff across hospitals.
He said that the Directorate is committed to introducing new departments and facilities every year at the nearly 140-year-old hospital, with the aim of transforming it into the apex institute under DHSK.
“It is the second-oldest hospital in Kashmir and has been catering to the healthcare needs of patients for decades. Now, we are focused on making it an apex institute. It will soon become DHSK’s super speciality hospital,” he said.
Dr Bakshi added that hi-tech machines are being installed at the hospital and noted that JLNM has become the first district hospital in the region to start its own research journal.
He emphasized that the hospital is continuously expanding and holds the distinction of being the premier healthcare facility in the area.
“Every year, we aim to introduce new departments, new facilities, and advanced equipment. MRI and allergy testing machines will be installed soon,” he said, adding that every department is witnessing improvements.
Regarding the shortage of paramedics, the Director acknowledged that the issue is felt across the board, including at the Directorate and medical colleges. However, he assured that concrete steps will be taken soon.
“The Government has taken this issue seriously, and very soon you will hear about extraordinary measures that will address the problem,” he said.
