JKTWA, AJKLTF discusses issues of teachers

JAMMU, Mar 31: Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Welfare Association (JKTWA) and All Jammu and Kashmir Ladakh Teachers Federation (AJKLTF) meeting under the chairmanship of Raja Mohammad Amin Khan, vice chairman, J&K TWA and discussed various problems being faced by the teachers in all the three regions.
During the meeting, the participants observed that the Government is engaging the teachers community in different jobs like election duty, survey duties and to collect date for the other flagship programmes, which strongly effects the standard of education in the schools.
The participants said that rationalization process is not being properly implemented and the blue eyed persons are enjoying their duties near their residence, while as the teachers, who are not having any political influence are working in far-flung areas. The assurance by the Education Minister for rationalization and transfer policy was been implemented/fulfilled, they added.
The teachers are engaged in schools for necessary submission of statements throughout the month, pay budget are being released very late and it has increased corruption in the treasuries for the release of the pay as well as arrears. MDM expenditure is not being released in time with the result the teachers become indebted to shopkeepers and thus affects badly in the implementation of the MDM scheme. Schools are suffering because of the DDO’s, thousands files are pending in both the directorates for want of disposal, they stated.
Some of the teachers from Jammu and Valley are working in far-flung areas of Leh and Kargil district, which were not able to reach their stations well in time due to bad weather condition, so respective Chief Education Officers are requested to grant special leave to those teachers so that they will not suffer.
The participants urged the Government to fulfill the demands of employees pertaining to all departments especially the problems of ReTs, EVs, under graduate trained teachers and master promoted as lecturers needs immediate attention so that classroom work will not suffer.
