JAMMU, Jan 11: Monthly meeting of Jammu Kashmir Teacher Master Association (JKTMA) was held, here today under the chairmanship of UT President Rakesh Singh and UT General Secretary Vivek Gupta to discuss the burning issues of Teachers/Masters.
While inviting the attention of Education Minister Sakeena Itoo, the Association strongly appealed for the conduct of DPC at fast track basis to fulfil the all vacant posts of Lecturers. Despite having a large pool of educated and experienced staff of teachers with requisite qualification to be promoted as Lecturers and despite having a large number of vacancies of Lecturers, Teachers/Masters are not promoted as Lecturers by DPC but on the contrary many of them are forced to teach senior secondary classes in their own schools/Clusters even without providing any extra allowance in this regard, it explained.
Association urged to conduct DPC by 100 percent quota on one time basis as per the decision of State Administrative Council (SAC).
Rakesh Singh expressed his resentment against the decision of authorities to fix seniority of Master grade post on basis of District cadre vacancy despite the fact that said posts of Masters are Divisional cadre posts and till 2014 seniority list of Masters were framed on Division level .
He explained that Conversion of Master grade posts from Division cadre to District cadre has lot of adverse consequences as different Districts have different cut off dates for Master grade due to different number of vacant posts of Masters because of which in some district where more number of vacant posts of Masters are there, junior got promotion earlier than their seniors which also makes them senior for next cadre of posts of Lecturer /Head Masters.
Singh urged to Education Minister to re-fix the seniority of Masters on Division level by considering single last cut off date at Divisional level as per past practice.
The Association also demanded introduction of Biotechnology subject in at least 10 Schools of all 20 Districts of Jammu Kashmir keeping in view its potential market in coming decades, enhancing grades of Teachers at par with other UT Teachers.
