JAMMU, Feb 12: An urgent meeting of Jammu Kashmir Teachers/Masters Association (JKTMA) was held under the chairmanship of UT President Rakesh Singh and UT General Secretary Vivek Gupta to discuss the burning issues of Teacher and Masters.
While speaking on the occasion, Singh strongly demanded that Joint Director School Education and Director School Education should be the transfer authority for Teachers and Masters, respectively as per guidelines envisaged by School Education Department. He said that experiment of online transfer of teachers has proved utter failure because of the discrepancies due to many factors.
Singh suggested that SED should implement the transfer policy in such a way that the Teachers selected on basis of category certificate be transferred to rural backward areas preferably to their residence mentioned in RBA category certificate. This will overcome the deficiency of staff in rural areas in the interest of students, he added.
Singh also invited attention of Principal Secretary SED Alok Kumar towards the issue of need of Math Teacher’s in rural areas and said that most of the rural areas do not have Math teachers due to which students of these areas are facing difficulty in clearing concepts of Math and have developed mathematics phobia which adversely hampers their career progression in future. “In order to overcome this problem, Govt should make separate transfer policy for all Math specific teachers having Math in graduation so that each Govt school particularly in rural areas receive at least one Mathematics Teacher/Master,” he said.
Welcoming the initiative of Chief Secretary Dr Arun Kumar Mehta to introduce JK Attendance App &Samiksha App, the Association urged the Government to provide road connectivity to all rural schools on priority basis. Association also passed resolution by two-third majority in which they raised demands of DPC of Teachers/Masters to Incharge Lecturer by 100 percent quota of DPC by dropping Distance Education Post Graduate degrees in Science stream, considering date of passing Post Graduate Degree for fixing seniority instead of date of joining, enhancing grade of Teachers equivalent to other UT , enhancing remuneration of BLOs and Supervisor at the rate of Rs 12000 and 24000 respectively keeping in view their important role in electoral process, reliving all Teachers, Masters & Lecturers from Non-academic assignment.
