JAMMU, Feb 22: The Jammu & Kashmir Teacher Master Association (JKTMA) under the leadership of president Rakesh Singh & general secretary Vivek Gupta convened a meeting to deliberate upon several pressing issues concerning the teaching fraternity across the Union Territory.
While speaking on the occasion, Singh urged the Education Minister to expedite the long-pending Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) process for promotion of Teachers and Masters to the post of Lecturers in various streams. He said that the delay has caused stagnation and demotivation among eligible candidates besides adversely affecting studies of senior secondary students. The Association demanded immediate finalization and issuance of promotion orders in a transparent and time-bound manner.
The Association also demanded immediate introduction of Science subjects in hanging Higher Secondary Schools where the proposal is still pending.
Vikram Gupta demanded enhancement of overall-cadre strength in Masters Grade posts by regularizing SSA Head Teacher posts. This move will not only streamline the administrative structure but also create promotional avenues for deserving Masters, ensuring better academic supervision and institutional efficiency, he added.
