JAMMU, Apr 13: Jammu Kashmir Teacher/Master Association (JKTMA) today organized a meeting of all the executive members and others, under the chairmanship of UT president Rakesh Singh.
Agenda of the meeting was to discuss various genuine burning issues of teaching community with special emphasis on DPC of Teachers to Masters & Lecturers and Annual Transfer Drive (ATD) for which the teachers are waiting eagerly.
While speaking on the occasion, Rakesh Singh strongly appealed Education Minister Sakina Itoo to release the lists of DPC of Teachers to Lecturers in various streams in order to fulfill the vacant posts of Lecturers in various streams, especially Science stream in Senior Secondary Schools.
“Deficiency of Lecturers in far flung areas is the major bottleneck in the implementation of NEP 2020 and increasing enrolment of Govt Schools as parents prefer to admit their wards in private schools due to the non availability of lectures in the Higher Secondaries,” he explained.
While inviting attention towards the fake degrees in Science from off-campus study centres, Singh urged the Education Minister to have a full proof mechanism to drop these fake degree holders from the seniority lists with the objective to enhance the quality education in the department and also to fix the seniority of the Lecturers and Masters on the basis of date of passing PG degree and B Ed degree instead of date of joining as this will discourage the pursuance of fake degrees by the teaching community to obtain undue advantage.
Maintaining that Annual Transfer Drive (ATD) is an essential feature of quality education as it is the medium of fair postings to those who have served in far flung areas for many years, Rakesh Singh urged the Education Minister to release the list of ATD of Teachers at earliest avoiding the time period of mid-session.
Other issues discussed in the meeting, included enhancing the grades of Teachers at par with other UT teachers and regularising the posts of Head Teachers.
