UDHAMPUR, July 23: Jammu Kashmir Teachers’ Joint Action Committee (JKTJAC) today held a press conference in Udhampur under the leadership of UT president Vinod Sharma and district president Lekh Raj Parihar to express serious concerns over the Government’s plan to de-freeze 50% of teacher posts without addressing the long-pending absorption issue of ReT teachers.
The press conference was attended by JKTJAC executive members and district body members. Speaking on the occasion, Vinod Sharma cautioned School Education Department against de-freezing posts at the cost of the rights of ReT teachers, now designated as Grade II and Grade III under the Samagra scheme.
He urged the Government to create additional posts to accommodate the existing Grade II and III teachers, which would not only safeguard their rights but also open opportunities for fresh aspirants.
The JKTJAC leader also highlighted the undue pressure faced by teachers due to excessive non-teaching assignments. “Teachers are burdened with operating multiple portals like JK Samadhan, JK Sehat, Swift Chat App, U-DISE, Samiksha, and Mid-Day Meal records, leaving little time for teaching,” he said. He demanded that all such duties be withdrawn to ensure quality education in Government schools.
Expressing hope in the Chief Minister’s vision, Sharma called for immediate redressal of grievances of teachers appointed under the ReT scheme.
Those present on the occasion included Sham Sharma, Sukesh Khajuria, Ashok Seth, Chain Singh, Ravinder Singh Rathore, Bhushan Khajuria, Sandeep Sharma, Shamsher Singh, Balvinder Singh, Vijay Sadotra, Vipen Raina, Anil Sharma, Manoj Sharma, Sawarn Singh, Raman Kumar Sharma, Ajaz Wani, Ajay Sharma, Som Raj, Raj Pathania, Romesh Kumar and Deewaker Sharma.
