JKTJAC holds convention on theme ‘How to raise standard of education’

JAMMU, Apr 22: Jammu Kashmir Teachers’ Joint Action Committee (JKTJAC) under the leadership of UT President Vinod Sharma and UT Chairman Saleem Sagar held one day convention on the theme: “How To Raise Standard Of Education “, in which Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary was the chief guest.
The convention was attended by hundreds of teachers, mainly from Jammu Province besides Joint Director School Education Jammu Subah Mehta.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister stressed on exploring new strategies for teachers to adapt their instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners in the classroom. He suggested for revising curriculum to include global issues, cultural diversity and critical thinking skills to prepare the students for a globalized world.
Choudhary emphasized the importance of teacher mentorship and coaching to support new and experienced educators in their professional growth. He stressed that focus should be on improving teachers’ training, reducing rote learning and creating more inclusive learning environment.
Earlier, highlighting the genuine issues of the teaching fraternity, especially teachers appointed under ReT scheme, JKTJAC president Vinod Sharma urged the DyCM to get implemented Govt Order No.469 Edu of 2014 Dated 25.06.2014 regarding inclusion of 5 years ReT period for seniority benefits and transfer policy for regularised ReT teachers.
He also demanded exemption of teachers from all sorts of non teaching assignments and revival of ReT scheme in Jammu and Kashmir to overcome the shortage of staff.
Speaking on the occasion, UT Chairman Saleem Sagar raised the burning issue of clearance of GP Fund bills and Gratuity of the employees. He also demanded sanctioning of posts of Masters in Middle Schools upgraded under SSA.
General Secretary Najam Jafri demanded raising the grade of teachers at par with their counter parts in other UTs. Reyaz-ur Rehman demanded DPC of Teachers to Masters. Rajesh Jamwal presented vote of thanks.
Others who also spoke on the occasion, included Sham Sharma, Sukesh Khajuria, Khazan Singh, Ghulam Nabi Ganie, Lone Abdul Qayoom, Naresh Sharma, Subash Chander, Naseer Ahmed Butt, Javed Bali, Anita Kiran, Mahesh Kumar, Ashok Seth, Pankaj Verma, Sajad Malik, Ravinder Manhas, Lekh Raj Parihar, Rakesh Singh, Manzoor Khan and Hari Lal Nag.
