JKTJAC deputation meets Sakeena Itoo, highlights teachers’ demands

SRINAGAR, Dec 10: A deputation of Jammu Kashmir Teachers’ Joint Action Committee (JKTJAC), led by UT Chairman Saleem Sagar and UT President Vinod Sharma, today called on Education Minister Sakeena Masood Itoo in her office chamber at Civil Secretariat Srinagar.
On the occasion, both the chairman and the president demanded DPC of Teachers to Masters, especially in Jammu province, resumption of mutual transfer of teachers appointed under ReT scheme till comprehensive transfer policy is framed, sanction of posts of Masters in Middle schools upgraded under SSA, raising of Grade of teachers at par with their counter parts in other UTs.
While interacting with the Minister, Sharma and Sagar raised the burning issues of the teaching fraternity and hailed the recent constitution of Committee by Education Department for framing comprehensive transfer policy in favour of teachers appointed under ReT scheme. They said that this was a long pending issue raised by JKTJAC and framing of the committee is a major step in this regard.
They also welcomed the decision of the Education Minister to give incentives to the teaching fraternity of rural areas instead of those working in cities.
Minister for Education Sakeena Masood Itoo said that the process of DPC of Teachers in Jammu Province is on cards and the list will be issued in January 2026.
Regarding mutual transfer of teachers appointed under ReT scheme, she said that same will be resumed at the earliest. She also assured to redress each and every issue raised by JKTJAC leadership.
The deputation comprised of Malik Ashraf, Sukesh Khajuria, Sheikh Irshad, Sham Sharma, Iftikhar Ahmad Qureshi, Khazan Singh, Abdul Maajid, Sandeep Sharma, Mir Feroz Ali, Abdul Majeed Khan and other leaders of JKTJAC.
