JAMMU, June 16: A deputation of the Jammu Kashmir Teachers’ Joint Action Committee (JKTJAC), led by its UT president Vinod Sharma, met Director School Education Jammu (DSEJ) Dr Naseem Javaid Chowdhary (JKAS) to discuss pressing issues faced by the teaching community.
During the meeting, Vinod Sharma projected several long-pending and genuine demands. Key issues raised included post-facto approval of undergraduate degrees acquired by teachers during service, enabling their eligibility for BEd through departmental channels. The delegation also demanded the conversion of left-out Teachers Grade III and RRETs to Teachers Grade II/III, along with the convening of the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) to promote teachers to the post of master and address stagnation.
Highlighting the shortage of staff in primary schools, Sharma stressed the need for deploying at least two teachers in each school, especially where only one teacher is currently posted. He also sought the immediate release of Mid-Day Meal dues, which many teachers have been covering from their own pockets.
Dr Chowdhary gave a patient hearing and assured the delegation that the raised concerns are under active consideration. He affirmed that steps, including issuance of DPC orders, would soon be taken to resolve them.
The deputation included Sham Sharma, Subash Chander, Rajinder Singh Manhas, Lekh Raj Parihar and several others.
