JAMMU, Dec 7: As a part of continuous struggle of Jammu Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF) for the DPC of Teachers to Masters and resolution of other legitimate pending issues of teaching fraternity, district bodies of Kupwara and Doda held candle march protest.
Call for the protest given by central leadership of JKTF for the early redressal of demands, such as DPC of Teachers to Masters, implementation of ATD after removing the loopholes in transfers, transition of Grade -II and Grade-III teachers, framing of clear cut transfer policy in favour of teachers appointed under ReT scheme, adjustment of Headmasters and Lecturers, confirmation of all incharges and look after cadres and revival of OPS instead of NPS etc.
A large number of teachers participated in the candle march protests in the both districts. In Kupwara, the candle march was led by Muneer Ahmed Khan, UT Vice President and District President Sahil Bashir. In Doda, the candle march protest was led by Chief Coordinator Jamat Ali Agah, District president Mohd. Yasin, Ishiaq Rashid, Aniss Wani and others. The protesters were raising slogans for the early redressal of their demands.
While addressing the gathering, the speakers appealed to LG Manoj Kumar Sinha and Chief Secretary A K Mehta to intervene and direct the School Education authorities for the early redressal of the problems being faced by the teaching community.
The second phase of protest in the form of candle march will be held on 9th of December, Friday evening at District Kathua in Division Jammu and District Baramulla in Kashmir Division as per the programme announced by Ganesh Khajuria, UT Chairman and Mohd Shafi Rather, UT President.
