JAMMU, June 5: Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) today expressed serious concern over intentional delay in the disbursement of package which is going at a snail pace.
While addressing a press conference here today, Gurdev Singh, president, JKSAC, along with other senior leaders, said, “Despite of several assurances given by high ups in both the Governments no improvement has been witnessed with on ground due to which strong resentment is brewing among the Displaced Persons (DPs).
He warned the State Government of adopting the path of agitation if no concrete measures are taken to streamline the speedy disbursement of the package in a proper sequence and DP’s issues are not projected as per the recommendation of Parliamentary Committee within next six months.

“Due to failure of biometric system hardly 30% beneficiaries out of total 26,319 could get package despite lapse of full one year period”, he alleged and maintained that there are certain elements who wanted to derail the process of verification of beneficiaries/DPs for their personal gains. He condemned such elements and appealed the DP’s not to mislead and swayed away by their gimmicks.
He further said it is the high time that the State Government, particularly BJP, should pay immediate attention to DPs’ issues and streamline the process of disbursement of package on priority in a time bound period, as the hundreds of DP’s/beneficiaries despite being cleared for payment are running from pillar to post to know objections why they have been ignored.
The JKSAC president reiterated that it is a small amount and in no way match with the loss of lives and properties they have suffered. The DP’s have accepted this amount on the assurances. He said now the onus is on the shoulders of State BP leadership to show proper concern by preparing roadmap to project this issue in the right perspective in a time framed manner to reciprocate the faith the DPs have imposed in them.
