JAMMU, Feb 25: J&K Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) here today organised a meeting at Bikram Nagar Chatha and urged CM Omar Abdullah to deliver the long overdue justice to the Pahari speaking people by granting them ST-2 status as assured in the last Assembly session of 2025.
Speakers in the meeting demanded ST-2 status for Pahari speaking displaced persons of PoJK settled in Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Udhampur, Reasi, Doda and at other places.
They condemned the callous and discriminatory attitude of the government and its designated authorities for not issuing ST-2 category certificates to the Pahari ethnic group applicants despite transparent rules and clarification given by the Minister for Social Welfare, Sakeena Ittoo on the floor of the house.
Gurdev Singh, president, DP leader, Charanjeet Singh, Avtar Singh, Balwinder Singh, Ajeet Singh, Netar Parkash, Balbir Singh, Rajesh Khajuria and others also spoke on the occasion.
Proceedings of the meeting were conducted by Balbir Singh, senior DP leader.
