JAMMU, Sept 26: Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) has apprised the Displaced Persons (DPs) of 1947 from POJK regarding the discrimination being meted out to the Pahari speaking DPs residing beyond district Rajouri and Poonch, and exhorted upon the DPs to get united and be ready for a decisive battle if ST-2 is not granted to them before ending 2025.
In a series of meeting held at village Paskal, Morchapur and Chak Majra Tehsil Bishnah,
Gurdev Singh president alongwith Capt Puran Singh Chib- vice president and Bhagwan Singh – president Unit Sub-district RS Pura called upon DPs to stand united to achieve their legitimate right of being granted ST-2 status particularly and other issues concerning their rehabilitation pending redressal since decades.
He said that both the UT and Central Govt instead of reciprocating the DPs faith posed in them are being continuously ignored and discriminated. He told the DPs particularly youth to come forward to join the struggle to shape their future as well of their coming generation. He said today we are left with no time as our three generations have already perished and warned the DPs that if we failed this time then our future generation will never forgive us. There is no other way to salvage them except all of us irrespective of age and gender if we do not come out of their doors to join the struggle.
He apprised the DPs that ST-2 category certificates are not issued to them by the concerned administrative department and its designated authorities despite of the fact that the rules framed in this regard are crystal clear and after completion of all the codal formalities required under rules. He said that JKSAC has urged many times to Dr Narinder Singh, Ch Vikram Randhawa and Arvind Gupta all Members Legislative Assembly belonging to DP community to take up this legitimate issue immediately with the government as they have been given massive mandate by the Pahari speaking DPs residing in their respective constituency.
Singh further said that certain vested interests within the Government are deliberately creating the confusion and misleading the Govt. by misinterpreting the rules/law leading to further complication for the Govt as well. He said that it is highly discriminatory that DPs residing in Poonch and Rajouri have been granted ST-2 status whereas their other relations residing in Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, etc have been denied this legitimate right of ST-2 status.
