J&K’s Sumitpal enters QFs in AITA Tennis Tournament

JAMMU, Dec 8: Sumitpal Singh of Jammu and Kashmir entered the quarterfinals of the ongoing Shivalik Public School AITA Men’s and Women’s Tournament at CLTA Stadium, Sector 10, Chandigarh, today.
In the pre-quarterfinals, Sumitpal defeated Vivek Gautam of Karnataka in a three setter contest to move into the last eight stages.
Sumitpal lost the first set by (3-6), however, he came back strongly to win the second set by (6-2) and was brilliant in the third set as after trailing by (4-0), he made it (7-5) in his favour to win the match by (2-1).
Earlier, in the first round, Sumitpal defeated Robin Sharma (2-0) by (6-1, 6-1).
In the matches of qualifying three rounds, Sumitpal defeated Rahul Rana, Jatin Choudhary and Karan Bhall.
