J&K’s Ritvik wins Silver at UTT National TT Ranking C’ship

JAMMU, Sept 12: Ritvik Gupta from Jammu and Kashmir continued his impressive run on the national circuit by winning a silver medal in the U-17 category at the 2nd UTT Table Tennis National Ranking Championship, held at Thyagraj Stadium, New Delhi, from September 7 to 12.
Ritvik entered the main draw and defeated top players from Maharashtra, Assam, West Bengal, Karnataka and Odisha to reach the finals. In a closely fought title match, he lost to Soham Mukherjee of West Bengal with a scoreline of 3-2, with the final set ending at a nail-biting 11-9.
This is Ritvik’s second consecutive silver medal in the U-17 category at the UTT National Ranking Championships. Earlier, he secured silver in the 1st UTT National Ranking Championship held in Vadodara from August 10 to 13.
On the international stage, Ritvik has already made a mark by representing India at prestigious World Table Tennis (WTT) tournaments in Germany, Czech Republic, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan (Almaty), Laos, Japan, Jordan and North Macedonia.
Most recently, at the WTT Star Contender Tournament held in Skopje, North Macedonia (Europe) from September 5 to 8, 2025, Ritvik clinched a silver medal in the U-15 singles category and a bronze medal in boys’ doubles. He recorded victories over players from Poland, Italy, Korea, Malaysia and Austria, before narrowly losing in the finals to the World No. 1 player.
With this stellar performance, the Indian U-15 boys’ team has successfully qualified for the World Championship, scheduled to be held in Romania in November 2025.
