J&K’s Delhi property

The Minister In-charge Defence Hospitality and Protocol declared in the Legislative Assembly that the State Government owned property of about 14.32 Acres with buildup area popularly known as Kashmir House, Raja Ji Marg, New Delhi. However, a major portion of this property is under the occupation of the Ministry of Defence.
But out of 14.32 Acres of land (114K-11.2M), at Kashmir House, only 17.4 Kanals of land which houses the 75 number staff quarters of J&K Government is in its possession.
This land is in prestigious location in the capital as such needs to be put to proper use. There is increasing need for the State to have its own accommodation in the capital city especially the landed property on which structures can be raised for the use of the State administration. The house was told that the State Government has already approached the Defence Ministry to vacate the site and return the possession of the land. The New Delhi Municipal Corporation will take its own time to accord sanction to the new structures that will be raised on the land available. This is a long process but should be started now.
Brisk interaction between the State Government and the Centre as well as among the people will increase manifold with the passage of time. The State should have fairly large accommodation, convention halls and room accommodation so that Government functionaries, public service undertakings and other organizations that need to be in constant communication with central agencies can freely and without hassles find place to sit down and work. We are hopeful that the Defence Ministry will cooperate fully with the State Government and vacate the land that is under its occupation at the moment.
