JAMMU, Jan 21: A delegation of Jammu and Kashmir Private School Association (JKPSA), led by its Chairman Kamal Gupta today called on the Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) G H Sheikh and discussed the issues concerning the academic interests of students and administrative challenges faced by private schools.
During the meeting, the Private School Association, Jammu pleaded for curtailment of syllabus in the forthcoming annual examinations for Jammu division on the analogy of Kashmir division so that students do not suffer academic losses.
The delegates remarked that the students have suffered losses caused by adverse climatic conditions in August and September last year, which disrupted academic calendar.
Mr Sheikh patiently listened to the concerns raised and assured the delegation that appropriate and timely measures would be taken to safeguard the academic interests of the student community.
The meeting also discussed the difficulties faced by schools in getting their managing committee files approved, particularly due to complications arising out of delayed CID and police verifications.
The Chairman, while acknowledging the issue, assured that a proper mechanism would be worked out to address their genuine grievances. He said there was a need for easing out the norms to provide enabling environment for private sector to grow hand in hand with Government sector and give a huge fillip to literacy.
The Chairman assured the Association that Board is contemplating to moot a proposal for forwarding to the Government to simplify the procedure for issuing NOCs for ensuring the smooth and hassle free functioning of private schools across the region.
The PSA members present in the meeting, included Deepak Handa (Sr Vice President State Body), Sanjeev Luthra (Treasurer), Lal Chand Gandotra (President Jammu District) and Vijay Sharma (General Secretary Jammu District).
