KATHUA, Feb 24: Anti-Polythene Enforcement Drive was launched by J&K Pollution Control Committee (JKPCC) at Lakhanpur during which 1100 kg of banned polythene was seized.
During the drive, JKPCC personnel along with sleuths of J&K Forest Protection Force conducted physical checking of the vehicles coming from outside to the UT of J&K at the entry point Lakhanpur.
About 52 vehicles were intercepted by the checking team of JKPCC and on physical checking of these vehicles the team found about 1100 kg of banned polythene from a vehicle bearing registration number PB10HH-5362.
As per documents seized from the vehicle, it took the consignment from Govindpuri, New Dethi and was destined to Miran Sahib Jammu carrying footwear items and transporting the banned polythene.
JKPCC initiated the confiscation proceedings under Section 17 of J&K Non-Biodegradable Rules, 2007. The checking team comprised of Incharge PWM, Randeep Singh Manhas, Surinder Kumar Tripathi, Divisional Officer, PCC Kathua, Briz Lal, Draftsman and Field Inspectors Narayan Thakur and Vikram Singh.
The checking team was assisted by Dy. Inspector, Forest Protection Force, Naresh Kumar, Rakesh Kumar and Hansraj besides Sunit Singh, Block Officer, Anti-Polythene Check Post Lakhanpur.
