JAMMU/SAMBA, Aug 12: Two Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) Probationer Sub-Inspectors (PSIs), who died in a road accident in Srinagar on Monday, were cremated with full state honours at their respective villages today.
Three PSIs-Shubam Seth, Sachin Verma, and Mastan Singh-were travelling to Jammu after performing Shri Amarnath Yatra duties when their vehicle hit a road divider at Tengan in Srinagar’s Lasjan area early on Monday morning, resulting in severe injuries to the trio.
They were taken to a hospital, where two of them, Shubam Seth from Jammu’s Narwal area and Sachin Verma from Samba’s Vijaypur area, were declared as dead on arrival. The third PSI Mastan Singh is under treatment.

Shubam Seth was given the final farewell at his native place Narwal in Jammu district in the presence of hundreds of locals. His pyre was lit by his younger brother.
District Development Commissioner Jammu Rakesh Minhas, SSP Jammu Joginder Singh, SPs of different zones, and political leaders cutting across the party lines attended his last rites.
The 2019 batch officer, Shubam is survived by his wife and a three-year-old son. His father, Bhagwan Swaroop Seth, runs a Dhaba at Narwal; his mother is a homemaker, and his younger brother is pursuing studies.
His body reached his home around 10:30 PM on Monday.
Similarly, the last rites of the Sachin Verma were performed on the bank of Devika River in Vijaypur area in the presence of hundreds of locals with full state honours. His father Sukhdev Verma lit the pyre.
SSP Samba Virinder Manhas, Additional SP Samba, local MLAs Chander Prakash Ganga and Surjeet Singh Slathia were among other leaders from different political parties who attended the last rites of the soldier.
Also a 2019 batch police officer, Verma is survived by his wife and infant twins aged 5 to 6 months. His father is a goldsmith; mother a homemaker, and younger sister a student.
His body also reached his hometown Vijaypur on Monday at around 9: 45 PM.
