JAMMU, Mar 5: In a bid to raise awareness against drug abuse, Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) organized a debate competition at Government Shri Ranbir Model Higher Secondary School in Jammu, under the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.”
The event, which is part of a nationwide initiative to make India drug-free, was conducted under the Civic Action Programme (CAP).
The competition saw active participation from students, teachers, and members of the community, all of whom engaged with enthusiasm on the theme of creating a drug-free India.
Senior police officers, including SSP Jammu Joginder Singh, Superintendent of Police City North Jammu, Vivek Shekhar; SPDO City North Jammu, Vikram Singh; and SHO Pacca Danga Rakesh Singh Jamwal, were present to support the initiative.
The officers highlighted the pressing need to protect the younger generation from the devastating effects of drug abuse and emphasized the collective responsibility of society in combating this issue.
They urged the youth to stay drug-free and actively participate in spreading awareness about the harmful impact of drugs.
Vivek Shekhar, Superintendent of Police City North Jammu, stressed the importance of community vigilance in addressing drug abuse, calling on the public to work together to curb the menace.
He also underscored the critical role of law enforcement in this battle.
Vikram Singh, SPDO City North Jammu, assured that the police are committed to fighting drug abuse, with increased patrols and surveillance to prevent drug-related activities.
He emphasized the police’s efforts to create a safer environment through initiatives like Operation Third Eye, which includes the installation of CCTV cameras for better surveillance.
Rakesh Singh Jamwal, SHO Pacca Danga, pledged the police’s vigilance in taking swift action against suspicious activities related to drug abuse and highlighted the importance of community cooperation.
The Principal of Government Shri Ranbir Model Higher Secondary School, Jammu, called for a collective effort from all sections of society to build a drug-free India, encouraging the youth to flourish in a healthy and supportive environment.
Prizes were distributed to the participants as a token of appreciation for their thoughtful contributions to the debate, which focused on the importance of a drug-free future for the country.
