JKOPA releases calander, discusses demands

JAMMU, Jan 20: J&K Offset Printers Association (JKOPA) today released its calander 2015 and also discussed the problems being faced by the Jammu printing industry.
The calendar was released in a function organized by the Association. Rakesh Gupta, president, Chamber of Commerce and Industries was the chief guest whereas Varinder Sharma, Director MSME, was the guest of honour.
At the outset of the function, Pankaj Sethi, president, JKOPA welcomed the chief guest, guest of honour, other dignitaries and distinguished audience and presented mementoes to CCI president and other office bearers. Varinder Sharma, Director, MSME, Atma Singh, president JPA and its other office bearers were also presented mementoes.
While speaking on the occasion, Ravi Gupta, ex-president, JKOPA, highlighted the problems being faced by the Jammu printing industry due to lack of printing hub, inadequate skill development opportunities for the prospective work force for printing industry, and exorbitant rate of VAT@ 13.5% levied by the J&K State on the printing machinery, P S Plates etc in comparison to the neighbouring states, where VAT is charged @ 5% only.
Rakesh Gupta, while speaking on the occasion assured the organizers that he would take up the issue of establishment of printing hub with State Government and do his best to get the needful done. He assured to place in the pre-budget meeting with Government functionaries to raise the issue of higher rate of VAT levied in the State.
Varinder Sharma, Director MSME advised the Jammu Printers to form clusters as per scheme of Government and hence avail the benefits linked with scheme. He also promised to arrange skill development of the printing industry.
