SAMBA, Jan 15: Demanding immediate compensation to the flood hit people and rehabilitation of  the border migrants, JKNPP activists  staged a protest dharna under the leadership of former minister and Ex-MLA Yashpal Kundal, here today.
The protesting JKNPP activists raised slogans in support of their demands and also submitted a memorandum on behalf of the Samba people to the Deputy Commissioner Samba.
While addressing the dharna, Yashpal Kundal said that the ongoing incidents of firing along the IB have made the life of border people miserable who require immediate and adequate help by the Government.
While highlighting the plights of flood hit people, the JKNPP leader alleged that Samba people have not been compensated for the loss, which  they suffered during the natural calamity in September last. He demanded re-assessment of  loss, suffered by people of Samba due to floods, and stressed that adequate compensation be provided immediately to the affected families.
These points were also highlighted in the memorandum, submitted to the Deputy Commissioner with a request to forward the same to Governor N N Vohra for taking necessary action.
