JKHWA stages protest demonstration

JAMMU, May 23: J&K Handicapped Welfare Association (JKHWA) here today staged a protest demonstration and raised slogans against the concerned authorities for not paying any heed towards their issues.
Ajay Kumar Sharma, Association president said the authorities had assured them on March 15, when they were out to gehrao the Civil Secretariat Jammu, that their issues shall be addressed soon but after a lapse of so many days nothing has been done in this regard.
“We demand that pension to the physically handicapped people should be hiked to Rs. 3000 per month and other benefits entitled to this class of the society should be provided to them,” he said.
He informed that on ground nothing is available to this special class of the society because at many government offices there is no facility of lift and also there are no ramps at many other places to facilitate the physically challenged people.
Sharma said that all the benefits which are available to the physically challenged people in other Union Territories should also be available in J&K for the physically challenged people here.
