JAMMU, June 30: The Jammu & Kashmir High Court Bar Association Jammu (JKHCBAJ) today inaugurated the upgraded Justice Vinod Kumar Gupta Memorial Bar Hall at the High Court Complex, Jammu.
A portrait of Maharaja Hari Singh Bahadur was also unveiled during the event.
The portrait was jointly unveiled by JKHCBAJ President K Nirmal Kotwal, Vice President Baldev Singh, General Secretary Pardeep Majotra, Joint Secretary Anshu Mahajan, and Treasurer Rahul Aggarwal in the presence of a large gathering of senior and young advocates.
Senior lawyers including BS Manhas, AK Sawhney, Aslam Goni, UK Jalali, DC Raina, VB Gupta, Sunil Sethi, and KS Johal highlighted Maharaja Hari Singh’s pivotal role in establishing the judicial system in Jammu and Kashmir.
They recalled that he founded the High Court of Judicature for J&K on March 26, 1928, and implemented significant reforms to modernize and make the system more just and efficient.
President K Nirmal Kotwal reiterated his commitment to the welfare of the legal fraternity.
He praised Maharaja Hari Singh as a visionary who emphasized justice, meritocracy, and legal codification, famously declaring, “Justice is my religion.”
The office bearers thanked all lawyers for their participation and assured continued efforts for the upliftment of the legal community.
