JAMMU, Nov 27: The Jammu & Kashmir High Court Bar Association Jammu (JKHCBAJ) today held an emergent meeting to discuss the growing resentment among lawyers over the newly notified J&K Tenancy Act, 2025.
The meeting was convened in view of the protests by lawyers across Jammu, who have opposed several provisions of the Act.
Taking note of the concerns raised, the Association constituted a committee to examine the issue and suggest the next course of action.
The committee, headed by Senior Advocate DR Khajuria, includes DK Khajuria, MR Qureshi, Ved Bushan Gupta, BS Manhas, JP Gandhi and Rohit Kohli.
A statement said the panel will study the objections put forth by the legal fraternity and prepare recommendations aimed at safeguarding the rights and interests of stakeholders.
JKHCBAJ said it remains committed to ensuring that all issues are addressed in a lawful and responsible manner.
The Association appealed to its members to remain united as consultations continue.
