Jammu, Dec 4: President J&K Ex Services League, Lt Gen Rakesh Kumar Sharma, met Manoj Sinha, Lt Governor of J&K UT today and projected various issues pertaining to the welfare of Ex-servicemen.
The issues include Kashmir War Memorial, Sainik Colonies for ESM – Brig Rajinder Vihar & Kargil Vihar, shifting of ZSWO to RS Pura and New Security Strategy in J&K.
In addition Gen Sharma recommended employment of maximum Ex-Servicemen for the forthcoming census in J&K & SIR to obviate fudging and also to leave Govt Departments free & undisturbed.
Kashmir War Memorial was erected last year in the honour of fallen heroes who laid down their lives to save Kashmir during 1947 and thereafter during ongoing militancy. It was brought to the notice of LG that only names of Police & Para Military Forces have been put in the Roll of Honour. It was requested that names of Army Soldiers also need to be incorporated earliest.
Since all Security Agencies operate in their own manner & 24×7 coordination is not fully possible,it was suggested to have a dedicated Security Advisor to coordinate all security agencies on 24×7 basis for a better response.
Sainik Colonies sanctioned in 1999 by J&K Govt for development by JKESL are still not complete even after a lapse of 25 years due to non seriousness of the administrative authorities & apathy of the revenue authorities causing a lot of distress to the Ex Servicemen. It was brought out that 340 applicants have already died without seeing their dream homes & more are likely to die in wait. Most of the applicants are now Super Senior Citizens & need priority handling by the Govt Authorities. He requested the Lt Governor to issue instructions to H&UDD, Div Com Jammu & DC Samba for earliest finalization of the colonies.
Lt Governor was very sympathetic to the issues of the Ex Servicemen.
