JAMMU, June 13: A meeting of executive body of Jammu and Kashmir Electrical Engineering Graduates Association (JKEEGA) was held here today.
In the meeting, JKEEGA condemns the manhandling of engineers on official duty by some miscreants, uncivilized and unruly mob.
The engineers all over the State are working tirelessly for running the vast power system with minimum available manpower at such peak summers so as to provide support and services 24×7 to general public round the clock.
Recently a Feeder Manager Chander Shekhar was mishandled by unruly mob while performing his official duty by way of restoration works at Resham Ghar Colony. The uncivilized and unruly mob not only abused the official but also tried to attack him. Another such incidence happened at Pounichak Grid Station where unruly mob barged into Grid Station premises and tried to vandalize the Government property thereafter assaulting and manhandled a Junior Engineer on duty at Grid-Station namely Abhishek Dutta. The unruly and uncivilized mob also tried to hijack personal vehicle of said official.
Harvrinder Singh, President JKEEGA expressed his deep displeasure and anguish on manhandling case of on-duty Junior Engineers/Feeder Managers.
“JKEEGA would like to stage a strong protest in this matter and would appeal to administration to take such a strict action on culprits involved in these cases, so that a clear message should go to the masses that in near future nobody could dare enough to repeat the same with any other officer and official while rendering their legitimate duties”, he added.
“If Administration fails to arrest the culprit within stipulated time period, the engineers will be left with no alternative but to go on strike”, he said, adding that manhandling of Government officials is a matter of grave concern and calls for an immediate action by the law enforcing agencies.
