JAMMU, Oct 31: Continuing its mission of nurturing innovation and promoting entrepreneurship among the youth, Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) organized boot camps under the J&K Startup Idea Challenge at Bhaderwah campus of the University of Jammu and Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Kishtwar.
The events were held as part of the J&K Startup Policy 2024–2027 and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, aspiring entrepreneurs and faculty members.
At the Bhaderwah Campus, the event was attended by Rector, Prof Rahul Gupta; Dr Umesh Choudhary, Head, School of Business Department; Vivek, Superintendent, ITI Bhaderwah; Vishal Sharma, Branch Head, J&K Bank; and officials from the Employment Department, District Industries Centre and JKEDI, Doda.
Dr Umesh Choudhary, in his address, emphasized the importance of organizing such initiatives frequently to cultivate a vibrant startup ecosystem in the Union Territory. Sixteen participants presented innovative ideas before the jury, which evaluated them on innovation, feasibility, and market potential. Shabir Majeed, District Nodal Officer (DNO), JKEDI Doda, explained the provisions of the J&K Startup Policy 2024–27 and termed startups as key drivers of innovation and economic development.
A similar boot camp was held at Government ITI Kishtwar, where Principal Anoop Sharma inaugurated the event. He underlined the need to strengthen entrepreneurial culture across J&K to enable youth-led growth.
Dr Majid Manzoor Khan, Associate Senior Faculty, JKEDI, highlighted the various interventions and programmes implemented under the J&K Startup Policy 2024–27, encouraging participants to think creatively and pursue sustainable ventures.
Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, DNO, JKEDI Kishtwar, delivered the keynote address, setting the tone for discussions on innovation, entrepreneurship, and emerging opportunities under the policy framework.
The Kishtwar Boot Camp saw active participation from students and faculty of ITI and Government Polytechnic College, as well as officials from the Employment Department, District Industries Centre, and JKEDI, Kishtwar.
