SRINAGAR, Jan 17: The J&K Employees Coordination Committee (JKECC) today deferred its protest program, stating that the divisional administration had reached out with the Government’s invitation to discuss their issues.
Addressing a press conference here, Shah Fayaz, President of JKECC, said that while they had planned a protest to press for the resolution of their issues, they received a positive response from the Government.
“As there has been communication from the Government through the divisional administration, we have deferred our program. Otherwise, the employees were set to hold the protest today,” he said.
Fayaz added that the Government has invited the leadership of JKECC to Jammu for talks and, in light of this, the protest was deferred.
The President of JKECC highlighted the employees’ issues and urged the authorities to address these demands on a fast track.
“In case the Government fails to address the issues, JKECC will respond strongly, and the responsibility will lie on the shoulders of the Government,” he said.
“On Monday, we will meet the Chief Secretary in Jammu. We’ll give them 15 days If there is any positive development, fine; if not, we will bring it to your notice, and respond accordingly,” he said.
