Addressing a press conference, Shah Fayaz, President of JKECC, stated that they had already submitted representations regarding their issues and demands.
However, he noted that the Government does not appear serious about addressing them.
“There are issues such as the delay in the release of DA and HRA, as well as discrepancies in salaries for NHM employees and college contractual lecturers between the Union Territory of J&K and Ladakh,” he said.
He also raised the issue of prolonged delays in the processing of GP fund cases.
“Bills have been pending in treasuries for several months. The Government must address this,” he said.
Shah pointed out, “If the salary can be arranged for MLAs, why are the GP fund cases not being processed, and why is there a delay in the release of DA and HRA?”
He further mentioned concerns such as pay anomalies for horticulture employees, reorganization of the Fisheries Department, issues related to agricultural technology management employees, vocational trainers, helpers, AAYAs, CPW wages, gender coordinators, and leave salaries for teachers involved in the YUVA mission survey.
“We have a long list of issues, with minimum wages always being our priority. After considering all these concerns, we have decided to stage a peaceful protest on January 17 as our last resort to get our issues resolved,” he said.
He emphasized that while policy matters take time, routine employee issues should not be delayed.
“We do not want confrontation, but due to the non-resolution of issues, we have no option but to protest,” Shah said, while urging all employees to gather at Sher-i-Kashmir Park on January 17 to march towards Press Enclave.
