AKHNOOR, Apr 20: The monthly meeting of Jammu and Kashmir Divyang Kalyan Sangh (JKDKS) was held here today.
The meeting held under the leadership of JKDKS, Sham Lal was attended by a large number of Divyang people.
In the meeting, the Chairman of the Sangh, Sushil Sharma, listened to the problems, which are being faced by the Divyang people.
Reminding them about the promises made earlier by the Government, Sharma said that before the elections, the Government had promised to give free electricity and double ration to everyone, but this promise has proved to be incomplete till now.
He also told that women were given free travel facility in Government buses, but Divyang people have been deprived of this facility, which is a serious and unfortunate matter.
Despite repeated requests, the Government failed to pay any attention to the problems of the Divyang people.
Sharma also mentioned that in the last monthly meeting, which was held in Khour, the association had given a 15-day ultimatum to the Government for solving the problems of the disabled, but the Government failed even in this period.
During the meeting, it was unanimously decided that a massive dharna-demonstration will be organized at Nirdosh Chowk, Akhnoor on Thursday, May 1, to protest against this neglect and arbitrariness of the Government.
“If any untoward incident occurs during this movement, the entire responsibility will be of the Government and the local administration,” he said.
Sharma called upon all the disabled brothers and sisters to reach Nirdosh Chowk, Akhnoor on May 1 at 10 am and participate in this democratic protest.
The meeting was attended by Vakil Chand, Allah Rakha and Subhash.
