JAMMU, Aug 30: The Jammu and Kashmir Coordination Committee of Trade Unions (JKCCTU) and Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) today declared to go for one day strike on September 2, as a part of national wide programme of the Central Trade Unions.
Addressing a joint press conference Mohd Maqbool, president of JKCCTU and Babu Hussain Malik president, EJAC ( R) said that trade union organizations and semi-government departments are much worried over the on going neo-liberal economic and anti-worker, anti-people and pro-corporate policies of the Central Government. These policies have led to uncontrolled price hike, huge unemployment, loss of jobs, attack on social security system like pension, massive outsourcing and contractorisation of the permanent nature of jobs and disinvestment in Central and State Public Sector units, putting burden on the working class.
They said the unilateral implementation of 7th Pay Commission report after ignoring the suggestions of the State and Central Govt employees organizations, has caused widespread resentment among the Govt employees, both at the Central and State level. In view of the above issues, the Central Trade Unions and All India State Govt Employees Federation decided to observe one day strike through out the country on Sept 2.
The JKCCTU and EJAC has also endorsed the call of the Central Trade bodies and decided to go on strike on September 2. In this connection, a grand rally will be held at Nirman Bhawan near Panaman Chowk ( Rail Head) in Jammu at 10 am.
They also demanded that 7th Pay Commission report be implemented in the J&K State and pay anomalies of the clerical cadre be removed without any more delay.
Prominent among others present included Bharat Bhushan, Ashok Singh, Yash Pal Sharma, Bishan Verma, Meenakshi Sharma Ram Kumar Sharma, Ansuya Gupta, Parshotam Sharma, Munish Sharma, Seva Ram Rathore, B B Kotwal and Farida Bano.
