JAMMU, Dec 18: National Art Exhibition organized by Jammu & Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA) in collaboration with Kala Kendra Society (KKS) was inaugurated here today.
The exhibition dedicated to veteran artist, Late (Prof.) T S Batra, Former Principal Institute of Music & Fine Arts (IMFA), Jammu was inaugurated by Ajay Sadhotra, Senior Leader of National Conference.
The paintings of Prof. T S Batra and twenty five other veteran and senior artists from different States/ UTs of the country have been displayed in the exhibition.
A large number of artists, art lovers and art students attended the inaugural ceremony.
Pt. Kewal K Sharma, president JKCCA welcomed the dignitaries and the guests.
O P Sharma gave a brief of the role and activities of JKCCA.
Sharma said, “JKCCA is completing twenty five years of its functioning and celebrating its Silver Jubilee. This exhibition is a part of the activities scheduled to be organized this year.”
The exhibition is dedicated to Prof T S Batra. He served as an art teacher at Institute of Music & Fine Arts (IMFA) and could rise up to the position of Principal of the Institute. As a humble human being, the legacy & persona of Prof. T S Batra had impacted countless students, which helped his students to rise in the field of art. He had been a member of Central Committee of J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages. He had been the Founder Advisor of Jammu & Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA), Jammu.
Speaking on this occasion, Ajay Sadhotra appreciated that Jammu & Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts has a long list of art activities including artist camps held at Mansar in the recent past.
He appreciated the work of artists in the exhibition and added that the artists should come forward with the themes of secularism, along with other themes they undertake.
Dr. Javaid Rahi in his address lauded JKCCA is outstandingly doing well in organizing art events in the area.
The artists whose work has been displayed in the exhibition included, Yashwant Patel, Valabh Vidyanagar, Gujarat; Pratima Singh, Lucknow; K S Gill and Dharminder Sharma, Amritsar; Bhushan Kesar, Jang S. Verman, Richa Gupta, Kanwalnain Bhan, Ashok Mehra, O P Sharma, Dr. Raj Kumar Sharma, Virji Sumbly, Jammu; Kanwalnain Kaur, Kathua; Mohd. Moin, Dehradun; Anuradha Thakur, Ahmednagar, and Neena Singh, Pune, MR; Aslam Naqishbandi, Srinagar; Madhu Sharma, Indore, Swati M Jain, Bhopal, B R Bdade, Indore, MP; Prof. Saroj Rani, Varanasi UP; Dr. A K Dixit, New Delhi and Sheril Gupta, Jaipur, Rajasthan.
