JAMMU, Feb 18: National AIDS Control Organization (NACO), Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has ranked J&K AIDS Control Society (JKACS) as number one among the UTs for the achievements made under National AIDS Control Programme (NACP).
In the last few months there has been a special focus by the Government on the working of Union Territories which has enabled NACO to identify the gaps and challenges being faced by AIDS Control Societies in all the UTs, especially with respect to testing, ART linkages and viral load testing facilities for the patients.
In order to assess the overall picture of the performance of UTs, an attempt has been made in the form of composite index to compare their performances on different components and indicators and rank them accordingly. The ranking is a dynamic phenomenon which brings performance based competitiveness leading to better yield and outcomes.
The regular analysis of the National AIDS Control Program in various UTs would enable them to achieve the envisaged targets under each component of the program at an expedited pace. Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, Project Director JKACS expressed happiness over the achievement of the Society.
