JAMMU, Feb 28: Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, in collaboration with Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, organized a captivating literary event titled ‘SahityaManch’, here today.
The event, dedicated to Dogri poetry, brought together celebrated poets and literary enthusiasts, offering an enriching experience for the audience.
The ‘SahityaManch’ showcased the creative brilliance of prominent Dogri poets, including Dr Om Goswami, Om Vidyaarthi, Mangal Das Dogra, and T R Magotra. Each poet recited their compositions, weaving a tapestry of emotions through their eloquent verses.
The poetry session not only highlighted the beauty of the Dogri language but also touched upon diverse themes of culture, tradition, and contemporary life, resonating deeply with the audience.
The session was presided over by the eminent Dogri poet and Padma Shri awardee, Mohan Singh, who is also Convener of Dogri, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi. He emphasized the importance of nurturing regional languages through such platforms and praised the participating poets for their significant contributions to Dogri literature.
Harvinder Kour, Secretary JKAACL, graced the occasion as the chief guest. She highlighted the pivotal role of literature in preserving cultural heritage and encouraged young poets and writers to engage with Dogri and contribute to its growth.
The immersive experience offered by ‘SahityaManch’ reinforced the cultural identity and linguistic pride associated with Dogri. Reeta Khadyal, Editor Dogri, concluded the program with a formal vote of thanks.
