JAMMU, Feb 14: J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today released Kashmiri poetic compilation, under the title “WUYN PIYOUM YAAD”, written by Sheikh Bashir Ahmad Saloora.
The function was presided over by noted writer, poet and critic Ghulam Nabi Khayal and Prof Bashar Basheer was chief guest on the occasion. Khayal described poetic compilation as an edition to the already treasure-trove of Sufi poetry in Kashmiri. Prof. Bashar Basheer complemented Basheer Saloora for bringing out this purposeful poetic compilation.
Earlier, Mohd Ashraf Tak, Chief Editor of the Academy, described Kashmiri Sufi poetry as an inspiration for development of Kashmiri language in various eras. He presented brief resume of the activities which the Academy is performing for the promotion of art, culture and languages in the State.
Noted poet and writer Syed Akhter Hussain Mansoor presented a detailed paper on the book while Sheikh Gh Ahmad Saloora and Gh Hassan Sufi also spoke about the book.
