SRINAGAR, Apr 10: The J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today released three books by young writers at a literary function held at Tagore Hall here.
The books, ‘Your Presence’ and ‘The Sole Burst of Colours in My World of Words’ by Prabhleen Kour, and ‘When the Air Turned Heavy’ by Huzaifa Afzal, were unveiled in the presence of noted writer Neerja Matoo, who attended as chief guest, and Amit Ranjan as guest of honour, along with JKAACL officials, writers, poets, artists and students.
The program was organised to provide a platform for young writers to present their work and to promote literary culture among the youth.
Addressing the gathering, Matoo stressed the importance of engaging young people in creative pursuits and lauded the authors for their literary promise.
JKAACL Secretary Harvinder Kour highlighted the need to sustain the culture of reading and writing, encouraging youth to channel their ideas through creative expression.
Presenting a paper on the books, Ranjan discussed various dimensions of creative writing, particularly poetry, and placed Prabhleen Kour’s work within contemporary literary trends, including memory studies.
Reviewing Afzal’s novelette, Abid Ahmad said the work derives strength from emotional authenticity and lived experience, reflecting themes of interiority and existential thought.
Additional Secretary, Ideel Saleem said such programs aim to create opportunities for writers from different regions to engage with wider audiences and appreciated the efforts of the young authors.
Both authors also spoke about their writing journeys, sharing insights into their inspirations and creative processes, and thanked the Academy for providing opportunity.
